Organic farming can be defined as an agricultural process that uses biological fertilizers and pest control acquired from animal or plant waste. Organic farming was actually initiated as an answer to the environmental suffering caused by the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

Benefits of Organic farming

It promotes sustainable development and does not cause harm to environment. t is an approach in farming, which uses no or less concentration of herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. In this farming, organic matters like farm-wastes and organic manures are used. So it useful for environment.

2. Crop diversity

Organic farming encourages crop diversity by promoting polyculture (multiple crops in the same space). Planting a variety of vegetable crops supports a wider range of beneficial insects, soil microorganisms, and other factors that add up to overall farm health. Crop diversity helps the environment to thrive and protects species from going extinct.

3. Soil management

Organic farming relies more heavily on the natural breakdown of organic matter than the average conventional farm, using techniques like green manure and composting, to replace nutrients taken from the soil by previous crops. Farmers use a variety of methods to improve soil fertility, including crop rotation, cover cropping, reduced tillage, and application of compost. reduces greenhouse gases and helps reverse climate change. Reducing tillage may also improve soil structure and reduce the potential for soil erosion.

4. Livestock

Raising livestock and poultry, for meat, dairy and eggs, is another traditional farming activity that complements growing. Organic farms attempt to provide animals with natural living conditions and feed. Organic certification verifies that livestock are raised according to the organic regulations throughout their lives. These regulations include the requirement that all animal feed must be certified organic.

Conclusion

Organic farming can be defined as an agricultural process that uses biological fertilizers and pest control acquired from animal or plant waste. It is a technique of crop production by natural methods, without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides and growth hormones. it is environment friendly or beneficial for the environment.
